Your local volunteer fire department may be looking for new volunteer members! If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer member of your local volunteer fire department, you would need to have a current member of the fire department nominate you at a meeting. You would then be asked to attend the next meeting and a vote would be taken before you could become a member.  Another option is to contact the Fire Chief of the Department, attend the next meeting and a vote would then be taken. 

You will be required to complete a fire fighter course. Training is mandatory to have prior to being able to attend fire and emergency scenes. There is a one year probationary period to be entitled to receive fire fighter plates for your vehicle. There are seven fire departments which cover the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth. In the event of an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
